Building community, strengthening lives.

Our Mission:

Building communities, strengthening lives.

Family Promise of Sarasota is a nonprofit, non-denominational organization affiliated with National Family Promise, which was founded in 1986. We provide shelter, meals, and support to homeless children and their families. We initiate coordinated local efforts that bring communities together to help homeless families regain their housing, their independence, and their dignity. Our vision is a nation in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and a chance to build a better future.

Homeless children and their parents in Sarasota need your help! Family Promise of Sarasota has temporarily suspended operations for reorganization and rebuilding. We expect to reopen in January 2020, and we can do that only if enough congregations sign up to help. Can your faith organization (all are welcome!) help host homeless families just a few weeks a year? For more information, please call our office at 941-952-1800 or email

Our Story

Families are the FASTEST GROWING population of the homeless. In 2010, the homeless family population increased by 9%, and currently homeless families are 41% of the entire homeless population. In SARASOTA County, there are over 1,200 homeless students enrolled in our school system THIS year (that does not include children under age 5). These children need a CHANCE for a stable childhood. We want to help.
